This year Tihany hosted the events of the Chief Architects’ National Conference from September 4th to September 6th. Lectures and other related events focussed on the settlement and its neighbourhood, the North Lake Balaton region, as well as Lake Balaton itself. According to tradition, the conference was the event to hand the Chief Architect of the Year and the Chief Architects’ Oeuvre Awards. The latter recognition went to Attila Turi, formerly the chief architect of Budakalász, who had been in this position for 23 years till his resign this spring. This year’s chief architecture is Krisztina L. Balogh, formerly the chief architect of Kaposvár, and András Tényi, presently the chief architect of Nagykőrös.
