    Hotel Oktogon, Budapest

    Architecture: Archikon Architects

Having been in ruins for a long time, a beautiful palace on Andrássy Avenue has been reborn as a hotel now. Archikon’s architects have made a masterful use of the valuable parts of the building, making additions to the existing cubature only by adding some useful floor-plan area on the roof and basement level, which is not visible from the street. Through a richly decorated painted doorway, we enter a vaulted foyer raced with red marble columns and white balustrated stairs. From the lobby, we enter the courtyard decorated with a neo-Renaissance loggia with a balustrade railing and the courtyard covered with glass, and now functions as the elegant lobby of the hotel. Representing the excellence of Budapest with its fine atmosphere, tastefulness and cosiness, Hotel Oktogon has 121 rooms now.
